Get Real!

In late summer 2004 We had some very exciting news! The Cornish Real Nappy Project had a funding application approved and has been awarded £143,000 by the National Lottery funded Community Recycling and Economic Development (CRED) Programme, through the Big Lottery Fund’s Transforming Waste initiative. The award will allow us to provide parents in Cornwall with a regular programme of nappichinos,, nappy changing facilities at events throughout the county and an enhanced awareness campaign. Over the next three years we have set ourselves the target of introducing over 2000 parents to real nappies, which means a massive 3012 tonnes of disposables being diverted from landfill, equivalent to the weight of 600 Asian elephants!

Over the winter 2004/5 the nappichino program was developed by the Get Real coordinators. It offers fortnightly nappichinos, nappy focused coffee mornings, in at least 12 locations throughout the county. For details of locations and dates please look at our events page.

We are looking for volunteers to help run these mornings with the coordinator, in return we will provide you with necessary training so you will be able to develop your organisational and communication skills and help with travel expenses. If you would like to know more and support your real nappy network please contact us.

The Get Real team will regularly be out and about at events within your community, if you know of any events planned within your local community that we could attend,  please contact us with the details.

The CRED Programme is managed by the Royal Society of Wildlife Trusts (RSWT) and nine consortium partners. We would like to thank all those involved in achieving this success.
