Incontinence affects many people in many different ways at different stages of life. Ranging from stress incontinence, where a sneeze or laughter can trigger it, to very heavy incontinence usually caused by some form of underlying condition or disability.
Many forms of mild incontinence can be cured if investigated; if you do suffer please do not be embarrassed, the best person to talk to is a doctor or nurse in your local surgery, their advice is confidential and, if you do not feel comfortable talking to your family doctor, many practices will have an alternative doctor you can talk to. The continence foundation is a Uk wide charity providing information and advice for people with bladder and bowel problems.
