Real Nappies Are Easy!

Solids are flushed down the toilet and the nappies stored in a bucket until you are ready to wash them. Soaking is a personal preference, you do not have to, but it reduces staining and wash times - see our tips for soaking solutions. Collecting your used nappies in a lidded bucket and washing every 2-3 days means there is no smell, unlike waiting a week for bin-men to collect a bag of used disposable nappies! When your nappy bucket is full simply wash at 60 degrees using a non-bio product; do NOT add fabric softener as this affects absorbency. Dry outside on the line when you can, or inside on a drying rack or in a tumbledrier. Most waterproof covers can be washed with the nappies but do check the washing instructions.

Real Nappies Do Not Leak!

A well fitting washable nappy will last for up to 4 hours between changes during the day, unless soiled, which would need changing immediately regardless of the type of nappy. At night, an adequately padded washable nappy will keep your baby comfortable all night!
