Toys to Help Save the Planet

Have you any unwanted toys suitable for pre-school children? If so, The Cornish Real Nappy Project, managed by Rezolve Kernow Ltd, would be delighted to accept your donations for our Toy Box.

The toys are to be used for our County-wide programme of Nappicino’s, funded for three years by the Big Lottery Fund’s CRED Programme, to be launched in March 2005.

Nappicinos are ‘serious fun’ coffee mornings for parents, babies and toddlers. The children have fun with face painting, games and toys whilst mums and dads relax with coffee/tea and cake. At the same time as socialising with other parents they can learn how to save money and resources, and make a real difference to our beautiful county of Cornwall by using real cloth nappies.

Did you know that 8 million disposable nappies are thrown into the bin every day in the UK? We are running out of landfill sites which is concerning for us all. The Cornish Real Nappy Project aims to increase the use of cloth nappies through their new 2005 “Get Real” awareness campaign by helping mums and dads to realise the benefits, both financial and environmental of using real cloth nappies.

Joy Dent, Programme Co-ordinator for the Get Real campaign said: “Cornwall is one of the counties aiming for zero waste in the future, so come on Mums, Dads and children, please look through your toy box to see if your unwanted toy can become a super hero and help save the planet.”

County-wide collection points at Co-operative Foodstores – please ring the Project Administrator, Beth, on Freephone 0800 328 8175 to find your nearest Co-operative store.
